Trip Checklist - Documents
Keep the following in moneybelt (contents protected from moisture by plastic bags if necessary):
  • passport and visa(s) (make sure your passport expires at least 6 months after you return)
  • driving licence (check expiry date)
  • credit cards, US$ traveler's cheques as backup, and some cash (US$, €, or UK£)
  • consider bringing debit cards (although not relevant in our case, they may be useful in other situations)
  • tickets
  • airline reward card(s) or membership number(s)
  • travel health insurance card
  • copy of vaccination pass and original yellow fever certificate
  • telephone access numbers (e.g. Canada Direct)
  • (email) address list
  • youth hostel card, student ID (ISIC card), ...
  • scuba diving ID
  • passport photos
  • Keep the following in backpack:
  • copies of passport and visa(s), driving licence, tickets, and yellow fever certificate
  • original traveler's cheques receipts and travel health insurance claim form(s) and policy
  • copies of (email) address list and scuba diver's log
  • Keep the following at home:
  • copies of passport and visa(s), driving licence, traveler's cheques receipts, and tickets
  • copies of travel health insurance card, claim form(s), and policy
  • copy of yellow fever certificate and original vaccination pass
  • copy of (email) address list and original scuba diver's Log
  • a scanned version of the above documents, ready to be sent to you by email in case of an emergency
  • Compile an emergency page containing the items listed below. Keep copies both in backpack and at home (also keep an electronic copy at home). A shorter version of it may be put in the moneybelt.
  • coordinates of people to be contacted in case of emergency
  • phone numbers for lost/stolen credit cards, debit cards, and traveler's cheques
  • all information useful in case of lost/stolen cards/cheques
  • phone numbers for telephone banking
  • calling card numbers
  • passport, visa, and driving licence information
  • airline reward membership numbers, scuba diving ID information, and padlock combinations
